Working in conjunction with our national counterpart, APSCU (Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities), the Coalition promotes policies that will protect our students’ access to federal financial aid at Title IV eligible institutions. The Coalition is an active member of the State Affairs Coordinating Council which monitors developments affecting career education in all fifty states and implements joint efforts to effect positive legislative and regulatory changes.
Presently the Coalition is part of a TASK FORCE with CECU and many schools and organizations that is seeking restoration of Title IV Ability to Benefit eligibility for students without high school diplomas or their equivalent. We helped initiate “Dear Colleague” letters in the House and Senate that were part of the 2014, 2015, and 2016 budget process. This effort will continue into the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.
In addition, we have formally opposed the proposed Defense to Borrower Repayment regulation, and are engaged in setting up meetings with Members of Congress.
